Abstract |
It has been ten years since my first book on black glass was published! In that time, I have received hundreds of letters and phone calls from collectors who were glad to finally have some reference to their own unique collections of black glass. While they were thrilled to have this information, I was also informed it was still not enough. The present volume, a labor of love taking several years, shows nearly 1,200 pieces of black glass, with few repeats from the first book. Featuring black glass from the early 1900s to the present, Book 2 illustrates almost every conceivable shape animals, perfume bottles, tableware, kitchenware, jewelry, lamps, miniatures, plates, stands, and much more. Companies run the gamut from Avon to Westmoreland. Companies receiving special attention include Boyd, Cambridge, Fenton, Imperial, L.E. Smith, Tiara, Tiffin and Viking. Of special interest is the significant number of imports from Italy, China, Taiwan, and other countries that are identified. 128 pages colour.
